Setting and Background - c.e. by =chinara:iconchinara:

Kraz came from the “outside”. He was a black-haired young child with icy blue eyes, gentle and kind, but with some outrageously aggressive attitudes. As it turned out, his “parents” were frauds who had taken him with them to sell him at the black market after they had found him in a wasteland, far away from this town. Put in an orphanage since nobody dared to leave the city for him, he found friends as also enemies. In fact, many kids hated the boy due to his weird friendly behavior, but they knew that this kindness would turn into violence as soon as they started to say something bad against him. Some tried to be on his good side.
However, a few children didn’t care what the blue-eyed boy did and mocked him. First, Kraz tried his “normal” way of making them stop, but eventually, he just took it when the others destroyed his belongings. One day, however, these children vanished – and after some time, they were found, brutally slaughtered. There were rumors that they had trounced Kraz before they had disappeared. Since that boy was already violent under certain circumstances, the people suspected him to know at least what happened. He never answered a question about this, and slowly the distrust began to grow…

Three years had passed since this incident; at the age of eight Kraz was adopted to a rather rich family which brought up as much love as people would for their own child. Growing up in such an area, he learned the rules of society, manners of a gentleman and, of course, how to control his violent attitudes. During this part of his life, people believe he was the happiest child in the world.

However, eight years later a robbery occurred, and the victims happened to be Kraz’ family. Unfortunately, the thieves were sighted by his father. Scared, they threatened the witness with a gun and wanted to make a quick getaway. But the very second they had planned this, the mother and his brother came down, screaming. In a daze and full of fear the robbers shot the whole family to death. Like insane, they continued shooting the corpses. As it turned out, it had been the biggest and last mistake in their lives. Kraz discovered the massacre when he heard the gunshots and had run downstairs.

Like in rage the murderers shot through the young man several times, until he fell on the ground. Gone insane the robbers started to laugh at the family, they forgot that they wanted to escape from this place and leaned against the walls. Before they knew it, they were covered in darkness; it held them tight with chains. Everything went black, and what remained, was more frightening than anything they had seen.

The police forces which came to the house, because they were called by the neighbors, stated that before they could enter, they heard someone scream with an inhuman voice.
“GO TO HELL!” And as the voice died away, the building from which it came was covered in blackness. When the darkness subsided and the police stormed in, Kraz stood there, streaming over with blood.
“Punishment… For those who deserved it.” And before the officers could grab him, he vanished in the darkness and was not seen anymore.

Time passed, and now, Kraz works as an assassin. He wears a leather coat black as the night, as his hat, trousers and boots are. Inside, the shirt is white as his leather gloves seem to be. The red necktie is the only colorful point in his clothing.

Kraz himself was a rather friendly and kind person, as mentioned up there, but he tended to act violently when provoked. Due to the incident that occurred in his past, he’s become bitter and cold, sarcastic and a bit sadistic. Also, he loves it to see blood – he finds satisfaction in it since he still couldn’t digest the murder of his family. Sometimes he uses the power which is inside him to absolve special tasks. But as it seemed, his power wasn’t unique in the world…

This story plays in a fictional world, in which the “city” is the very first point where the reader starts. Actually, the city means a large area, where most of the humans live. Everything is in there, from farms and little villages over entertainment places as the governmental district to even the black market. The people inside barely leave their city and go to the “outside”. With outside the inhabitants mean the surrounding wastelands as the faraway tropical forest and… the dead land. In this area which seems to be even more terrible than the wastelands, unknown creatures live, as it is rumored that also humans cooperate with them in order to survive. However, the inhabitants of the city only know little since the fewest of the few adventurer came back. Much is unknown, many things not discovered… But soon they’ll know more than they want.
